Some items (but not all) may be purchased on the Pennington Mobility website without paying VAT. You may qualify for VAT relief if you are chronically sick or disabled and are purchasing goods for personal and domestic use which are relevant to your disability.
You must provide us with a full and specific description of your condition when registering with us for VAT relief.
A person is ‘chronically sick or disabled’ if he or she is a person;
- With a physical or mental impairment which has a long-term and substantial adverse effect upon his or her ability to carry out everyday activities
- With a condition which the medical profession treats as a chronic illness
It does not include an elderly person who is not disabled or chronically sick or any person who is only temporarily disabled or incapacitated, such as with a broken limb.
If you are in any doubt as to whether you are eligible to receive goods or services zero-rated for VAT you should consult Notice 701/7 VAT Reliefs for Disabled People or contact the National Advice Service on 0300 200 3700 before making the declaration.
Please note there are penalties for making false declarations. We reserve the right to reject and cancel any orders where we do not accept your VAT exemption.View and download HMRC documents here
